A truly unique pair of artists, Robert and Su.Sane Hake bring together two artistic voices and seamlessly blend them into one. Their colorful work, rooted in their studies of fractals and the resulting patterns they have developed over years of working together, offer viewers a female and male energy working in total synchronicity. Their real work is a deeply layered philosophy and conversation about life and world around us. Their paintings are simply the representations of that work.

Filmmaker Dale Schierholt, a longtime friend of this special pair, capture the couple at work and during the installations of their annual exhibitions. “Their work is so much more than what we ultimately see hanging on the gallery wall,” says the filmmaker. “Their real work is a state of being they communicate in everything they do. There is a purity of spirit that they emit and even sitting and sharing a coffee with them one comes away feeling as though they have been bathed in a positive energy that clings to you like the pure salt air on the coast of Maine.”

While viewers will see and hear much about their art, the film doesn't offer a deep dive into all the nuances of their work, but it does touch on themes that will resonate with many of us in these turbulent times. More importantly, the film focuses on recreating the filmmaker’s experience of spending time with his very dear friends.
