Born and raised in the town of Port Clyde, Maine, Charles Wilder Oakes has built an artistic career drawing on the inspirations his hometown has provided. While creating paintings that tell the story of his life, as well as that of the sleepy fishing village he calls home, Oakes strives for themes that transcend physical place and reach for a spiritual setting we can all trace roots to.
