Following Schierholt’s signature style, the film will provide an intimate, conversational portrait of the acclaimed and multifaceted archaeologist, the inspirational and guiding force behind one of our nation’s most important archeological sites – the Jamestown Rediscovery Project. Offering us more than the customary facts, data and archival material about the Project, the documentary will enable those who see it to meet and understand Bill Kelso, the compelling human being who just happens to be a renowned archaeologist. Along the way, viewers will gain insight into Kelso’s passionate pursuit of uncovering our American origins, one that draws heavily on the art of his science.

The film will be shot and edited in 2017 with post-production, final edit and release targeted for 2018. It will be used for exhibitions, including at Historic Jamestown, DVD release and possible public television broadcast. The Foundation will accrue all profits from the sale of DVDs of the film at its museum store and website.

Filmmaker Dale Schierholt is developing an original film project profiling Dr. William Kelso

with the endorsement and cooperation of the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation.

In over two decades with Jamestown Rediscovery, Bill Kelso has given us a new and better understanding of our nation's origins and history. This very significant and profound product of his 20+ years of archaeology casts a broad effect and is having an international impact. Kelso has established an extraordinary legacy for the history of our American origins; this film will be a part of that legacy.

“This is a most exciting project and has our full support. Bill Kelso is one of the foremost US archaeologists of his generation and it is fitting that your work will bring his remarkable story to a broad audience.”

               - Dr. James Horn, President of the Foundation
